2012 - February

Wednesday 1st February 2012

Starting 2012

It is 2012 and the St. Albans Tech School (VUSC) Alumni Association is now one year old. 2011 has been a busy year for us and with the 50th School Anniversary coming up, this year will be even more so. Our ongoing challenge is to make the Association known and to attract new members from the existing school population and past students/staff. Our continuing aim is to:

• Help former students and staff to maintain social and networking contact through reunions, emails, web blogs, monthly newsletter, and celebrating major events.

• Further the educational, social and professional needs of past and current students and staff.

• Contribute to the welfare of the College.

With the imminent launch of the Association website, making ourselves known will be easier, but we need people who are willing to step up and make a contribution. Apart from ongoing Association activities, a lot of our time will be taken up supporting the VUSC St Albans campus in the planning, organizing and conducting the school's 50th Anniversary event. Attend one of our monthly meetings and contribute!

The Association meets at 7:30 pm on the first Wednesday of every month at the St. Albans VUSC campus, college staff room, James St. Come along, become involved in Association activities and make a genuine impact!

50th Anniversary Event

Luisa Fletcher has been appointed by the VUSC School Board (Brimbank campus) as the Coordinator to plan, organize and run the 50th Anniversary event. The Alumni Association will provide ongoing support to ensure the success of this memorable occasion. Ms. Fletcher will organize an initial planning meeting of VUSC committee members and Association representatives to lay the groundwork for the  50th Anniversary.

Association Newsletter

A newsletter of Association activities and major VUSC events will be produced every month and posted on the website. To make this a success, everyone is encouraged to submit to the Association Secretary articles and photos. These can be on any matter that touches the Association, the VUSC Brimbank campus or school life. Without these contributions, there will not be a Newsletter. So, participate!

General Business

The Association is looking to organize several reunions throughout 2012 of various St. Albans Tech School years. If you have an idea or a desire to meet your old classmates, get in touch with the Association Secretary at: VUSCassociation@hotmail.com

We are hopeful that the School Board will make available to the Association a room where we can set up our administration office, display memorabilia, and conduct general business.

Past members who have not sent in their $20 renewal membership fee, please get in touch with the Association Secretary. New members are always welcome!
